Ss 2205 is a duplex stainless steel with a microstructure of nearly equal proportions of austenite and ferrite when properly heat treated. It is has an excellent corrosion resistance including in seawater it is weldable by all standard methods and has a high heat resistance. 2205 stainless steel resists cracking even when faced with a combination of tensile stress corrosive chemicals and heat. Alloy 2205 uns s32305 s31803 is a 22 chromium 3 molybdenum 5 6 nickel nitrogen alloyed duplex stainless steel plate with high general localized and stress corrosion resistance properties in addition to high strength and excellent impact toughness.

The standard of this grade of steel has been refined over the years creating a versatile and strong product. The ati 2205 alloy is the most widely used of the duplex stainless steels and is often used in the form of welded pipe or tubular components. This microstructure ensures that 2205 is much more resistant to stress corrosion cracking than ss 304 or 316l. Use it for high pressure applications in caustic environments.

The s31803 grade stainless steel has undergone a number of modifications resulting in uns s32205 and was endorsed in the year 1996. Duplex 2205 stainless steel both ferritic and austenitic is used extensively in applications that require good corrosion resistance and strength. The 2205 grade steel is one of the most widely used ferritic and austenitic duplex stainless steel. 2205 2205 is a duplex austenitic ferritic stainless steel containing about 40 50 ferrite in the annealed condition.

Our duplex 2205 stainless steel is a nitrogen enhanced duplex used in applications requiring high strength and excellent corrosion resistance. 2205 maintains its corrosion resistance in temperatures up to 600 f. The alloy has also been applied as a formed and welded sheet product in environments where resistance to general corrosion and chloride stress corrosion cracking is important. 2205 has been a practical solution to chloride stress corrosion cracking problems experienced with 304 304l or 316 316l stainless.

Also known as duplex stainless steel it has twice the strength of 316 stainless steel.
